The couples that I normally work with want their wedding albums to be memorable. Who can blame them? The photos that are taken on your wedding day should stand the test of time, and bring nothing but smiles. Here are 7 great ways to amp up your posing game so your wedding albums have a dose of fun and whimsey to them.
BEND THE KNEE TO THE QUEEN/KING
Yes that is a “Game of Thrones’ reference and kudos to you if you caught that. It’s always fun to play with levels in the composition of your photograph. It’s also especially gratifying for the bride or groom to be the highlight of a photo. Don’t be afraid to play with different levels and to give the bride and groom their due on their special day.
FUNNY FACES
I mean do we really need to say how fabulous it is to make a great face that’ll be captured for years to come? It’s amazing what can happen when people will just roll with it and let their guard down. Wedding days are supposed to be fun. Don’t be afraid to be a little silly with your photos.
SUPERHERO POSE
Speaking of silly, I’m a big fan of a superhero pose. BIG FAN. I think we’re all superheroes in our own way. What better day to celebrate that than your wedding day. You’ve woken up early. You’re marrying the love of your life. And you’re managing to navigate all the potential stresses of the day. You my friend, are a superhero.
ALWAYS POSE WITH AN ANIMAL
Dogs are everything. I’d have our furry friends in every wedding photo if I could. But alas their attention span is worse than mine when I turn on Netflix. Don’t forget the adorable fur balls in your photos since they make life so meaningful on a regular basis.
JUMP
I literally mean for you to jump. No, I’m not channeling Van Halen here … though that is a great song and it does prove my point. Seriously though, movement is everything. Jump, run, squat if you so choose… just remember to wear comfy shoes. Oooh, that rhymed.
SHOW THEM WHAT YOU’RE WORKING WITH
Look, and this is for men and women; I know that many of you did extra work to get into those dresses and tuxes. So there ain’t nothing wrong with showing a little leg or boo-tay. I said, what I said.
THROW THEM HANDS IN THE AIR
Lastly, this day is about celebrating. Throw them hands and bouquets in the air and celebrate your special day. It’s bound to be a photo with smiles and laughter that will last a lifetime.
